Picton Bridge Club has been around for many years. The early days saw members play an evening of Duplicate Bridge in the Union Parish Church, in Broadway St, where a modest seven tables competed over the night.
On the 26th of October 1994 the club became Incorporated. It’s noteworthy that we still have two members from those early days who regularly play on Thursday nights reinforcing the adage that ‘Bridge is a Game for Life’
Lessons, initially, were a rudimentary affair either read from a book or made up on the spot. Nowadays there are comprehensive NZ Bridge learning tools and volunteers, with teaching backgrounds, that ably give new players a strong start to the game.
A major event in the club’s history was a move to the Port Marlborough Pavillion in Endeavour Park in 2013. This has been a very positive step in terms of Membership, comfort and the ability to host large tournaments.
Thursday nights now see 10-12 tables enjoy the highs, lows and frustrations that is Contract Bridge
Picton Bridge Club is an affiliated Club of NZ Bridge.
